Tell us a little bit about yourself: your name, where you're from, your work and interests.
My name is Ilaria, I'm from Venice and I work as an artist, bartender, writer, witch and many other things. My current project is called "Potenziale Fragile" and it's a collection of broken glass pieces from Murano.
Which piece did you get, and when?
The piece I got is a beautiful ring called Tesoro Ilaria, on October 2025.
How did you meet Tony Blanco?
I met Blanca at a party, on a sofa in a dark corner of a terrace. She was there with a friend, and we started talking about deep things as if we had known each other our whole lives. I was carrying my glass stones with me, and I felt it was the right moment to give her one as a gift in honor of that conversation, because she made me feel warm and truly seen. Not long afterwards, Blanca walked into the bar where I was working and left me a small, soft, semi-transparent pouch with a ring inside: it was holding the glass stone I had given her. I found the gesture so moving and unexpected that I stopped breathing for a full minute while hugging her.

Why did you choose this specific piece?
I didn't choose it. I feel like this piece is the result of love being shared.
Why do you wear it, or when do you wear it?
I wear it when I feel confident, when I want to make a statement, when I feel like wearing a sculpture.

Has it changed since you got it — has it aged, scratched, become something different?
Yes, a little. We didn't know each other when I first started wearing it, and now it needs a small adjustment. In a way, that will bring me back to Bianca. That's the magic of this ring.
Is there anything you would like to say about it?
For me, this ring was a sign. It is the physical symbol of women's ability to see one another.
Note by Marien: we normally don't comment on interviews as it is a space for owners to express their ways of feeling about meeting us and wearing their pieces. However, I would like to express my gratitude for meeting Ilaria, I appreciate her very much and I find hers is a star project. She and Potenziale Fragile inspired an object that I would say designed itself. The materiality of the murrine glass moved me to some records back in Italy, a political, love, and soft appreciation story. Very good moments.
From the beginning the aim was just to embrace the Murano glass with a metal structure that would make it sit in the gap of two fingers. Reflecting on the conversation with Ilaria, some images of a student demonstration back in Rome in 2012, and Milva’s version of that song came to mind. Ilaria has this strength “Bella Ciao”. So I engraved it on the metal band holding the glass for her.
